I was so nervous when I got off the plane in Rwanda. It was hot, and the airport was different, and the six people around me in line to get my visa spoke German very loudly. It was night, and I was driving to the hostel with my Local Coordinator, and I wasn't convinced I should be there.

I kind of wanted to go home.

And then I saw some people walking on the side of the road. I saw someone jogging for exercise. I saw friends talking and laughing. I saw a woman carry a bunch of stuff on top of her head carrying the CUTEST baby ever. I saw the heart and spirit of the people of Africa.

And so I fell in love with Africa right then.

The more time I spend here the more I love the people and the landscape and the food and the entire experience. I'm not sure I can go home actually.

We stayed in a hostel our first night, and the experience was much better than I expected. There were mosquito nets to sleep under, a pillow, and nice blankets. The showers was basically a spigot, and nothing ever dries because it's too humid!

The pineapple here is to die for. It is so sweet, and the milk somehow tastes better than any milk I've ever had. I have also noticed that people don't waste things here. The food is all hand picked and made, and so there are no packages to throw away except for food peels. It feels very wholesome to be able to eat a meal that came from the earth and will go back to the earth.

Looooook at these baby bananas! Aren't they so cute??

I can't wait to see what happens next.
